Peacetime Emergency Child Care Grants

Information for Child Care Providers - Responding to COVID19

Executive Order 20-20 directs Minnesotans to Stay at Home. It does not direct child care providers to close. Caregivers and child care providers are expressly listed as critical sector exemptions.
As part of their COVID-19 Response Supplemental Budget proposal, Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan proposed $30 million in funding for emergency grants for licensed child care providers serving essential workers during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Regional Emergency COVID-19 Grant Opportunity

Child Care Aware is giving child care programs an opportunity to apply for emergency grants through the Regional Grant process. Emergency grants are typically used for repair or replacement of damaged or unsafe equipment, or to assist with recovery from natural disaster like a flood or tornado. At this time, these grants are to ensure that child care programs can safely stay in business following current health and safety recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Eligible programs will be eligible to receive a Grant Award one-time during this application period.

**These grants are NOT to be confused with the Peacetime Emergency grants!**

Child Care Aware West Central will be administering these grants, and will be on a first-come, first-served basis!

Grant applications will be available on June 5th and close at 5pm on June 15th, or when funds are depleted, whichever comes first. Awards will be announced by June 19th.
