Pet waste is full of bacteria, parasites, and other harmful organisms that can negatively impact the health of humans and also our pets. When it rains, improperly disposed of pet waste makes it way down stormdrains, and into Pipestone’s surrounding water bodies and ponds causing all sorts of harm.
Please make sure you are doing your part to clean up behind your four-legged friend, including when it’s in your own backyard.
What the Law Says
The City of Pipestone’s Code Ordinance Chapter 14- Section 14.04 Sud.3G "It is unlawful for the owner, caretaker or attendant of any animal to allow it defecate on public or private property other than his/her own, or permit any accumulation thereof on his/her own property." Dog Bag Dispenser In Our Local Parks
To help reduce pet waste in City parks, the City provides dog waste bag dispensers as a courtesy for public use. If a dispenser is empty, we encourage pet owners to find alternative means to dispose of their pets waste.
