If your property is scheduled to be viewed this year, here's what you can expect:
- They will knock or ring the doorbell. If an adult is present, an inside view may be requested depending on the last time a full review was done. They will walk around the outside of all buildings (if accessible) to verify exterior characteristics. They may also take a photo or two of the house, garage, or other buildings.
- If an adult is not present when the Assessor stops by, an "Appraisal Notice" will be left with further instructions and their contact information.
- Characteristics of the property that affect market value are age, square footage, quality of construction, condition, basement finish, recent remodeling, location, etc.
- The Assessors wear an official identification badge, carry business cards, have a "City Assessor" sign on their cars and carry an authorization letter from Pipestone City Staff.
In addition to the 5-year review areas, the Assessors will visit new construction, permit, remodeling work in all areas of the city.
THANK YOU, in advance, for your cooperation during this year's assessment review.
